NONDENOMINATIONAL AFE is the first fulltime Islamic learning institute of Corona, CA. It offers a unique blend of Islamic education with a rigorous standard curriculum that exceeds the California state requirements. We use both K12 and the California Virtual Academies curriculum. The California Virtual Academies (CAVA) are WASC-accredited and state-approved. The materials they provide to students are beyond the state standards so as to teach and further challenge students. They provide text books, computers, microscopes, graduated cylinders, scales, thermometers, science specimens, and other useful tools needed for effective learning. Students are assigned their own California-credentialed teacher to help guide and track their progress throughout the year. The state teacher is in touch with the staff and the students through face to face meetings, phone calls and email on a regular basis. The students of AFE are backed up by an experienced team of staff and teachers who cater to their educational, social, and religious needs. AFE also has an active PTA, which helps the school administration achieve its goals and ensures that the students are never bored and to provide ideas and support for extracurricular events. We offer math, language arts, history, science, art, Spanish, PE, Study Island, Arabic/Islamic studies and Hifz (memorization) of Quran. In standard public schools there is little to no emphasis on grammar and language skills and we take this very seriously at AFE. As a result, students are placed in higher levels for reading and writing. While the public school system offers Spanish starting in 7th grade, AFE offers it starting in KG. Spanish is a very useful language to know when applying for jobs, especially in Southern California, and the students enjoy learning it very much and can later on use the same methodology to learn and absorb other languages quickly.
