Orange Crescent School was founded in 1983 by the Islamic Society of Orange County. The concerned and hardworking pioneers of OCS had a vision of providing a balanced academic program with an emphasis on comprehensive Islamic Studies. It exists as a non-profit, private academic institution serving Orange County's diverse Muslim community with solid Islamic education from preschool to eighth grade. Today, the Orange Crescent School is the largest Islamic School in Orange County, with a student population of approximately 400 representing more than 20 nationalities. It is one of only a few Islamic Schools with the stamp of Accreditation from WASC (The Western Association of Schools and Colleges). Added on June 29, 2005 and last updated 14 years ago
★★★★☆ My two children have a combined 8 years of education at Orange Crescent. This school provides a good basic education in an Islamic environment, at a tuition rate that is nearly half the cost of similar institutions in California. Being on the same grounds as the Islamic Society of Orange County allows easy access for students to perform prayers in the masjid. Middle school students here consistently do very well in the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair, and in 2012 even won the prestigious Junior division School Award! Other competitions OCS students consistently do well at: the Academic Pentathalon, Spelling Bee, and debates.
Starting in the 4th grade, girls are required to wear hijab as part of the uniform.
Parent participation is encouraged in this closely knit community, as there is a lot of fundraising to be done to support all the activities that can't be covered by the relatively low tuition. Posted on May 16, 2012
