★★★☆☆ Asalamo aleikom. I go to this masjid sometimes to pray occasional jumah's as well. I see there is a medical clinic there and other services. Overall it is a good stable masjid, clean and nice architecture in the main prayer hall (needs some ceiling work but still nice), and services are alright. Bathrooms are clean, but could be cleaner. Mostly immigrant communities which I have experienced kindness from. But could be a little more organized and more 'together'. I am torn between calling it above average or average. I think its a little above average, but I expect more from a Masjid of this size so give it an average 3 star rating. Posted on August 25, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ It's ok. It use to be better before the the nationalistic issues were brought into play. It use to be much more diverse. Over time certain groups of people moved into the community and became the majority and push the agendas of there nationa and tribe which i guess is human nature. It's just that it makes other people feel they aren't particularly welcome. It is a nice masjid and the didnt always have the sisters blocked off. If wouldn't be that big of a deal if they had a tv up or something during Ramadhan so the sisters can follow the prayers better. They have plenty of parking and right off a major road. ★★★☆☆ Yes, there is a barrier, and most of the time it forms a little square, maybe 20'X20', in the corner of the grand prayer hall, and there is also a basement where the women with little kids tend to go. I remember the first time I saw the actual men's prayer area, I thought, wow, this place is much nicer than I thought! - MCC is a great community masjid and since 9/11 has expanded its community outreach with programs like a free clinic, interfaith dialogues, etc. HOWEVER. They have also, in the past, shut the doors on other Muslim groups because of differences of Islamic understanding (yet they open doors to people of other faiths?). And sometimes the "We Are Democratic, Moderate Muslims" bit just goes too far. Because of that in particular this is not my masjid of choice in the DC metro area... Posted on June 13, 2005 |

★★★☆☆ I recall the times I've been here that the women's prayer area IS behind a barrier. Posted on May 26, 2005 |
