Also known as Faizan-e-Madinah Central Mosque, the Central Jamia Mosque was the first established in 1967 to fulfil the needs and the dreams of the expanding local Muslim community. By the late 1970's these premises proved to be inadequate and in 1982 the adjoining church building was purchased to expand the premises, again by the late 1980's as the needs of the community grew these buildings was being outstripped by demand. The 1990's saw the purchase of land on the corner of Link Road and Gladstone Street and we are now seeing the building of a vast purpose built Mosque, which has clearly changed the skyline of this magnificent city and will be the second tallest building in Peterborough.
