The Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS), also known as the Carlton Mosque, is dedicated to preserving the culture and identity of the Albanian Muslim community and promoting mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among other communities in Australia. The AAIS was the first Mosque (Xhami) built in the city of Melbourne (by Albanian Muslim immigrants) and has served the Albanian Muslim community (and the broader Um'mah) of Melbourne since 1963. Today, the AAIS is the largest Albanian Muslim community in Australia and is made up of members from the Albanian ancestral lands of Albania, Kosova, Macedonia, Montenegro and Chameria.
